瀬本 容子
1930年に岡山県倉敷市に生まれる。
自由学園女子部を卒業後、武蔵野美術大学油絵科中退。
1962年よりフランスに留学し、グランド・ショミエール芸術学校に籍を置く。
パリで絵を学びながら、ヨーロッパの生活、風土、文化に慣れ親しむ。
帰国後、中世からヨーロッパにかけての古典技法を独学で研究し、板や羊皮紙、ガラスなどにテンペラ画を描く。
現在も精力的に作品を描き続け、日本橋高島屋や銀座の画廊で個展を開催。
婦人之友社の雑誌『婦人之友』や、文化出版局の雑誌『ミセス』などにも掲載される。
また、早稲田大学坪内博士記念演劇博物館、世田谷美術館、宇都宮美術館、岡山県立美術館などにも作品が収蔵されている。
Yoko Semoto
Yoko Semoto was born in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, Japan in 1930. Yoko graduated from Jiyu Gakuen Girls High School, and entered Musashino Art University, though she did not complete the college degree.
Yoko started to study abroad at Grand Chomiere School of Art in Paris from 1962. While in Paris, she familiarized herself with the European lifestyle, culture, and climate. After returning to Japan in 1966, Yoko self-studied the classical painting techniques of the European Middle Ages. She has been painting in tempera on boards, parchments, and glasses.
She is still very energetic in painting, and has had exhibitions at Takashimaya Department Store in Nihonbashi, and at many art galleries in Ginza, Tokyo. Yoko’s works were also published in many magazines such as “Fujin no Tomo” (Fujin no Tomo Publishing) and “Mistress” (Bunka Publishing Bureau). Some of her works are in the collections of Tsubouchi Memorial Theater Museum of Waseda University (Tokyo), Setagaya Art Museum (Tokyo), Utsunomiya Art Museum (Tochigi), and Okayama Prefectural Art Museum (Okayama).
